“Around the time of 2015’s Currents – the third Tame Impala album – mainman Kevin Parker described having an epiphany some time previously. Driving around Los Angeles on magic mushrooms and cocaine, he realised just how magnificent the Bee Gees sounded, emotionally and technically. Parker is an Australian man given to singing beatific, double-tracked harmonies in falsetto; he is also a studio nerd ”
“On his fourth album, Kevin Parker takes a breath and eases into a smoother psychedelic sound. Even without the adrenaline-filled highs, the compositions are as rich and thoughtful as ever.”
“For much of the opening track of Tame Impala’s fourth album, Kevin Parker seems caught in two minds. “We’re on a rollercoaster stuck on its loop-de-loop,” he notes on ‘One More Year’, grappling with whether he considers this a good thing or not. Half a decade has passed since his last album, and the success of Currents weighs on the Australian’s mind. His project has morphed many times previously,”
“a 57-minute flex of every musical muscle in Kevin Parker’s body”

“**💭 Thoughts:** A solid album overall, and I love the use of synths throughout. That being said, I think the standout tracks do most of the heavy lifting on this LP. It’s not that the weaker songs are bad, they just feel a bit empty to me. I also think “The Boat I Row,” “No Choice,” and “Patience” from *The Slow Rush B-Sides and Remixes* deserved a spot on this album, as they would’ve made it much stronger overall. **🎶 Tracklist Review** 1.)
