“Selected Ambient Works is a work of art. Aphex Twin was making this music at such a young age it’s super impressive. The production is ridiculously ahead of its time and the type of production tons of IDM and Electric artists try to replicate or feed off of. Tracks like Xtal and Ptolemy I’ll listen to, over and over again. The album as a structure is basically just a bunch of songs thrown together (called ‘selected ambient works’ for a reason.) and in a basic order with each song being sometimes drum loops with different synths or straight up just ambience. But it all just works. So well. It’s such a vibe and it’s my favorite album to get school done while listening to it. It makes me feel smart, more In general, I’m feeling something when I listen to it. That’s art. Overall. No matter what music you listen to, atleast give this a try.”
“- das wort ambient beschreibt es eigentlich perfekt: man tanzt in extase aber zu kerzenschein - die snares / open hats pannen und mit unterschiedlichen reverb einstellung ganz woanders im musikalischen raum appearen lassen - auf ageispolis richtig nicer fast schon hi hat ähnlicher rhythm mit so sanften open hats - diese autogeräusche in green calx sind so geil in den beat eingewebt - der anfang von schottkey 7th path hätte auch der eines geilen hypnotischen trap beats sein können - danach direkt nochmal den die antwoord banger ugly boy gepumpt - hat richtig spaß gemacht das album & wurde von sehr vielen (schönen) gedanken auf meinem weg durch die westberliner nacht begleitet 🦇”
“My first aphex twin album. If you didn’t tell me what year it was made in I would’ve said 2010’s. Even without thinking about the year it’s made in, it’s a good ambient album with a few weird songs.”
